Berserker Health

My husband Jeff and I are inseparably linked. When we celebrate our birthdays each year, we combine our ages...this year we turned 110 (I'm 50 and he's 60). We always knew our souls were entwined, but we both started giggling (well, at least I did) when he gained 30 pounds along with me as my pregnancy progressed. When my vision started to get bad, so did his. When he first started to feel pain in his joints, so did I.  Ah, life as a soul-mate.

We now have a total of 104 pounds to lose, along with our conjoined aches and pains. We are ever so  grateful that he did not have to also have a breast biopsy when I did, and I did not take on his cholesterol rate, sleep apnea or kidney stones. And, so far so good on me not getting hair in my ears...thank God for small favors!

So, 2010 is here and with it, our mutual zeal to take a huge leap of faith: drop our 104 pounds, get the cholesterol rate low enough to dump all medication, get rid of my crippling joint pain, and start to feel great in the morning even without coffee. Yes, along with millions of other Americans, we vow to change our diets and get in shape in the new year. Here's how...

A few months ago we watched a film called "Simply Raw" which documents people literally reversing their incurable diabetes and going off their insulin...by changing what they ate. They also lost weight in the deal. In 30 days. Under a doctors watchful eye of course.  We figured, if something like incurable diabetes can be cured from eating plants, what can it do for us?  104 pounds lighter and pain-free, here we come!

We are not "normal" people. Well maybe temporarily we've been. Statistically, what has been shown to be "normal" in this country is to be overweight and even obese, get cancer or heart disease, enjoy mass quantities of processed or fast food, be tired all the time and feel like doodoo. Okay, so we've definitely been traveling down the "normal" path so far.

Here's our current leap of faith...to join the minority ranks of those living "naturally" - in maximum health, feeling strong, pain-free, and full of life and vitality. Jeff and I have been "berserkers" for our marriage, our children, our businesses, and our real-ationship with Spirit. Now, we are becoming berserkers for our health.

Berserkers are a little crazy...a little on the fringe of things. In the ancient tales of Viking warriors, the berserker was the one out front in a battle, willing to wear the skin of the last conquest on their belt, and be the first to run headlong into the front lines of battle. To others, they looked insane, which is how they continued to make their conquests.

We are adopting this kind of pin-point focus in our lives...running headlong into the front lines of maximum health.
To Life!
